Getting Ready for Gmail and Yahoo’s Updated Email Sender Requirements
At MKS Web Design, we proudly utilize Brevo for all our clients, ensuring adherence to the latest email sender requirements and delivering an exceptional email communication experience.
Starting in February 2024, Gmail and Yahoo will be implementing new requirements for email senders in order to enhance inbox protection and reduce spam. These changes will affect anyone sending emails to Yahoo, Gmail, Googlemail, or Google Workspace addresses.
What should I do?
At MKS Web Design, we are dedicated to providing top-notch services to our clients. As part of our commitment to excellence, we rely on Brevo for all our clients’ email communication needs. With Brevo, we ensure that our clients’ email sender requirements are expertly taken care of, allowing them to focus on their core business while we handle the intricacies of email deliverability.
Do I Need to Follow These New Requirements?
If you send emails to recipients using Yahoo, Gmail, Googlemail, or Google Workspace addresses, or if you are a bulk sender (sending close to 5,000 or more emails within a 24-hour period), you will need to adhere to these new requirements.
Messages sent from the same primary domain count toward the 5,000 limit.
New Sender Requirements
What All Senders Should Do
Authenticate your domain with DKIM
Maintain spam rates under 0.3% in Postmaster Tools
If your spam complaints regularly exceed 0.3%, your emails may be delivered to the spam folder.
Create a Postmaster Tools account to monitor your spam complaint rate and other valuable data.
Don’t send from a @gmail.com or @googlemail.com email address
Sending from these addresses may result in your emails being marked as spam.
Consider purchasing a domain from domain hosts like GoDaddy or OVH and authenticate it in Brevo to send emails.
Additional Requirements for Senders of Over 5,000 Daily Emails
Authenticate your domain with DMARC
Align the email address you use to send emails with the domain you have authenticated with SPF or DKIM
No Further Action Required
Dedicated IP setup already authenticates your domain using SPF
Brevo ensures that sending domains or IPs have valid forward and reverse DNS records
Brevo formats emails according to the Internet Message Format standard (RFC 5322)
Brevo supports a one-click unsubscribe for the list-unsubscribe header (RFC 8058)
